EP Review: Mandy, Indiana - ... EP

Boiling and Crushing. Mandy, Indiana's '...' EP puts their Post-Punk steps into some commanding territory.

There is something draining about Mandy, Indiana’s approach to Post-punk in this EP. A constantly draining, bottled-up, asphyxiating swirl that only comes in 3 tracks along with 2 remixes that compliment that sweaty outcome with accessible, but nonetheless exhausting tones of the original songs. Noisy, lo-fi electronics paired with steady percussion, bass, and guitar lines as well as Caulfield’s raspy but commanding spoken vocals in french that keep the tone both volatile and alluring, for better and for worse.

And for this side of post-punk, Mandy, Indiana’s take in this EP is refreshing and enticing, a balancing point that the band achieved effectively. There is a sense of unpredictability on the musicianship that there is so much more from this band to come, and I cannot wait to be floored with their style in the future.
