Album Review: Shye - To Where Wings Rust

Elevated to a new plane to explore.

From what I've heard from Shye so far, she seems very adventurous at what she has explored on the surface, releasing albums that are explored on foot, exploring her own personal dealings on 'For Sale' with sounds of her own small yet cherished things, and the night hazed 'Obscura' with whispered yet pleasant soundscapes that make you want to revel in the midnight.

But once in a while, you want to elevate yourself to a new plane, a new place where you can finally discover novel sounds that you can play with, and finally embracing that sky that you wanted to peer into for a long time.

In short, this is Shye's best work yet, growing herself her wings that can allow her to explore newer sounds and planes of atmosphere, and this album does not disappoint.

The soundscapes that are presented in this album are nothing short of Shye's familiarity. Soft sheets of chimes and pianos are all peppered around the album, but the tones and the atmosphere are sharper, jagged, and provides a lot of sheen that starts off the album, only balanced out by the feathery and ghostly softness on the second half.

This is Shye at her most defined, most free, and most heightened. With her wings elevating her into something much exciting, and I cannot wait to hear what new discoveries she finds in her next flight.
