Glimmer of sparkle.
I've been hanging over this Pearl Charles album for a few months now, a soft rock, country pop-tinged album that harks to the days of Fleetwood Mac filled with wondrous melodies, pleasant, warm production, and Charle's vocals are soothing and cheery paired with the lyrics that surround the themes of struggling with finding herself and making sense within her and the partner that she's with, which is nice and quite optimistic. Even if the closer felt underwhelming with the apocalyptic framing.
I just wished the sparkle went over the top, given that there are already smidges of it in some of the tracks (especially the opener) where some of the tracks can feel quite one note with its instrumentation, even with the added sparkling synths and all. And maybe make some songs fast-paced as well, because even if the melodies are wonderful, it can still feel quite a drag.
But still, it's quite great, and I would like to hear her expand her sound in the future.
