Pure Spectacle.
Mason Lindahl is quite a fascinating artist, playing in his folk landscape that dabbles in lo-fi psychedelic folk as well as flamenco, which can be heard in some of his early works.
This recent release of his embraces the flamenco touches that blossomed into something special. Fingerpicked chords that paint a monochromatic and minimal landscape but are nevertheless immersive and spectacular. And yes, it's all mostly piano with a smudge of additional effects to create these desaturated but longing tones. While I do wish there's a bit more variety on the chord structures or add a little bit of sparse instrumentation to elevate the atmosphere, the simplicity that Mason brings with the guitar playing is enough to keep the album hold together.
Yes, it is minimal, but how Mason makes use of that minimalism makes this a wondrous album to listen through.
