Album Review: Iglooghost - Lei Line Eon

Into Uncharted Grounds.

Iglooghost is one of those fascinating electronic producers not just for his wonky, otherworldly works and sounds that felt entirely unique, but also for adding in some conceptual ideas and worldbuilding that felt a bit high-concept but still is quite charming.

I didn't exactly heard the singles coming into this new album, but this was an intriguing step for Iglooghost. The wonky electronic elements that he's known for are still here but they're now meshed in with these chamber, orchestral elements.

I'll say this, this is incredibly impressive with how these elements are integrated. The explosive moments that Iglooghost tends to compose in most of his work are not that prevalent here, but when there is one, it's a slow yet grand sort of climax, given with the chamber elements nestled in that gives most of these songs more atmospheric, grounded, yet still captivating soundscapes.

And this balance between Iglooghost's wonky style and the chamber elements implemented in are so carefully placed that it complements both to create absolutely breathtaking, like the continuous buildup of 'Sylph Fossil' and 'Big Protector', the shifting yet stable conundrum of 'Yellow Umbra', and the ascending grace of 'Pure Grey Circle'.

Then also comes some of the vocals and samples that mostly complement the atmosphere of the songs, BABii's soft and hushed vocals work absolutely well on 'Ul Birth' with the warbling electronics and the soaring violins, the child chant that just bounces off supremely well on 'Zones U Can't See' with the zany textures, the child choir on 'Amu (Disk.Mod)' that paces the buildup of the instrumentals really well, and while LOLA's vocal tamber doesn't exactly do wonders on 'Light Gutter', she still fits nicely with the heavenly tone paired with the heavenly swell of the violins coursing throughout the track.

Overall, this is Iglooghost exploring other grounds that he hasn't touched before. And in this album, he sure has found a sense of evolution as a producer, and hell, I'm excited on what other grounds he will step foot upon.
