Album Review: Frogman - Slyme Koro

A warped circus of all types.

The first few listens was fun, but the more listens I gave to it, the vibe and tone just start to fall apart quite a bit for me.

The production has these sugary moments, but it kinda gets lost around the 2nd half of the album, and there are certain tracks that just swap their sugary sweetness for something rather uninspired, especially with the more 'pc music' abrasiveness that just comes off as tacky. The mixing can be also quite low, especially with the vocals feeling a bit more buried behind the sugary production. The melodies and grooves, while I do think are catchy, can sometimes feel underweight when transitions certain comes in abruptly. And the vocalists? they do what they do with their autotuned effects and slobbery delivery that can work if they have the charisma and expression... And they just can't make it work, even with how much autotune, ad-libs and delivery switch up they try to do. And I just wished that they made their tones a bit more exaggerated and intense to make them elevate these songs, instead of relying on the production to compensate for just how lackluster their vocals are.

Overall, it definitely is an interesting experience, despite the general flaws, it does manage to pursue the vibe it is going for, and I'm fine with that.
